Did you ever travel somewhere and wondered how it would be if you stayed? That’s what I did last summer after initially booking (only) 6 days. I ended up staying 2 months. Enter island life!It was a summer of morning swims (sometimes with pensioners), tiny supermarkets, being barefoot all day long and secret spots. But apart from seducing me, Ikaria is also one of the unique Blue Zones in the world, it is a surfing spot and it has late-night village festivals and dancing. I love that sleeping in late is encouraged, that chilling is a state-of-being and that you can moving around the island by hitchhiking (it’s that safe!). It is wild and unspoiled and it’s not for everyone! It could be for you if you need some wilderness, slowing down, crickets and stargazing and simple village wine.
